Drop Down is a drop-like list containing several options from which the user selects one item. It eases the process of selecting and choosing options for a given query. Sometimes you may wish to edit or delete the added drop-down button.
To delete Drop Down list.
A] Using a data validation tool
Steps:
1. Open the Excel application.
2. Click the cell that contains the drop-down menu you want to delete.
3. Click the Data tab on the Ribbon, and locate the Data Tools section. Under this section, click the Data validation button.
4. On clicking, a Data Validation dialogue box opens. In the dialogue box, click on the Setting tab.
5. Click the Clear All Button and finally hit the OK button.
B] Using the Right-click Tool
Steps:
1. Open the Excel application.
2. Click the cell that contains the drop-down menu you want to delete.
3. Right-click on the cell with the drop-down button to open the side-view menu.
4. From the menu, choose the Delete button.
5. On clicking, a delete dialogue box will pop up. Choose the delete option you wish to apply. Then, click the OK button.
C] Using the Delete tool (Home tab)
Steps:
1. Open the Excel application.
2. Click the cell that contains the drop-down menu you want to delete.
3. Click on the Home tab on the Ribbon and locate the Cells section. Under this section, click on the Delete drop-down menu, and choose the delete tool you want to use.
To Edit Drop down in Excel
After adding the Drop-down button to your sheet, you can edit and save changes.
Steps:
1. Open the Excel application.
2. Click the cell that contains the drop-down menu you want to edit.
3. Go to the Data tab on the Ribbon, and locate the Data Tools section. Under this section, click the Data validation button.
4. On clicking, a Data Validation dialogue box opens. In the dialogue box, click on the Setting tab. In the Allow drop-down menu, choose the type of drop-down menu you need to create. Then, locate and click the Source textbox. Under this text box, add the name of items or the list to appear on your drop-down menu. Alternatively, you can select the list from your document. When adding the list manually, a comma is used to separate items.
5. Next, click on the Input Message tab. Check the Show message checkbox. Add the Title and the Input Message.
5. Next, click on the Error tab. Customize the section. Finally, Hit the OK button.
